We're quarter two and if you're like me, the first half of the year has literally flown by. I honestly feel like I'm just now getting in my groove, which is crazy to say. As you're preparing to head into quarter three I wanted to remind you that now is a good opportunity to do some marketing research– especially if you're preparing to launch a big sale for Black Friday or end of year.

By the way, if you know that's on your radar this is the time to start planning and preparing. NOT IN OCTOBER.

Here are a few quick market research exercises you can execute rather quickly:

  1. Follow up with clients you've worked with this year who haven't completed a testimonial. Testimonials are a great way to learn more about how your customers view your services. You can use these testimonials to update your copy, send out new emails, and even craft IG Live Topics and social media posts.
  2. Ask your audience how they'd describe what you do and the services you provide. In my opinion this exercise works best on social media where your audience may be more engaged, but this helps you to clarify your positioning and gauge where you stand in your customer's brain. This helps when you're pitching yourself, optimizing your SEO, and even updating your bio.
  3. Speaking of bios, now's the perfect time to read through your bio and update it. Are there any new speaking engagements or accomplishments your want to include. Are you a new mom or wife? Did you recently publish a book? Does your overall bio match the direction your business is headed? If not, update it and make sure you update it anywhere you have it published.
  4. Ask your audience what they need. If you're going to be working on a launching a new product or relaunching a product for Black Friday or end of year, this is the perfect opportunity to learn more about what your audience is looking for and see if you have something, or can create something that would help.

Reader, sometimes it can be easy to overlook the simple tasks that keep our audience engaged and our messaging fresh and engaging, but I hope these simple steps will help.
