We didn’t go into our corporate roles just to wake up everyday, go to work, and then go home. I know I didn’t.
I wanted to make more money so that I could be a resource to my family. I didn’t grow up with money and I always knew that when I got older I wanted to be able to help my parents when they needed it. I wanted to be a rich auntie who could do whatever, whenever for the kiddos. I wanted to take big family vacations and fill my house with hella laughs and family gatherings – all of which takes money.
But when I got my good paying job, I found myself substituting the time I wanted to spend with my family with money to solve their problems.
It almost felt like I could pay OR I could be present.
But I couldn’t be both and I hated that shit to be quite frank.
This is ultimately what led me to begin exploring entrepreneurship as a real pathway to my happiness and fulfillment.
And this week, I felt like some variation of that has been realized. Shout out to GOD!
Tuesday – Threw my kid a birthday party at school, took him to the trampoline park, and grabbed seafood—his favorite.
Wednesday –Coached a group of women-led e-comm brands and picked my son up early—no stress.
Thursday – Kept him home unexpectedly while his school was closed. And I delivered a big website project to my client and got booked for a dream podcast.
Friday – got to go and have drinks with my girlfriend in the middle of the day on Friday and build out a real marketing campaign for my client.
Not to mention your girl had VIP seats to see Beyonce last week, so we’re basically cousins at this point.
This is the balance and harmony I’ve been looking for in my life and business.
This didn’t happen overnight.
And it didn’t happen magically.
This is the result of me leveraging my skills and expertise to create an offer that pays me well without monopolizing my time and energy.
